What actually happens when you answer+
Each city has ratings out of five for things like affordability, weather, jobs, schools and nightlife. Your answers set a personal weighting for eight lifestyle factors — how much each one matters to you, from 1 to 5. We multiply every city's ratings by your weightings and turn the total into a percentage.
Occupation and family nudges+
If your occupation is in demand in a particular state, that city gets a small boost. If you're travelling with kids, cities with stronger schools and family ratings score a little higher too.
Your likes and passes count+
Rating a city "Absolutely" or "Not for me" — here or in the like/pass deck — adjusts its score immediately, so the shortlist keeps reflecting your actual gut reactions, not just the quiz answers.
